We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and inspiring Headteacher to lead our hardworking supportive and welcoming staff. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of

SEN and Early Years practice and principles and be keen to demonstrate innovation and excellence in leading an outstanding special school.

We are looking for a Headteacher with:

  • drive and passion for ensuring that all children achieve their full potential combined with strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills

Apprentice TA

Castle Wood Special Primary School (3 – 11 yrs) are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and committed young person, who is interested in undertaking a Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship in our school.

As a Team Member of the school you will work under the guidance of the Teaching Staff to develop the skills that employees need. You will learn on the job, building knowledge and skills while gaining qualifications and a salary. Working as an Apprentice Teaching Assistant you will be supporting the class teacher and pupils on a daily basis. This will involve 1-1 support, group support and personal care duties. You will also assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons, ensuring all pupils have the correct resources to enable them to participate fully.

The skills you develop will be transferable, which will enable you to progress in a highly skilled career in the Education sector.

Castle Wood School is seeking a number of Teaching Assistants on a mixture of contracts.  We have 4 permanent Teaching Assistant opportunities and 4 fixed term contracts for the academic year 19/20.  All positions start September 2019. 

As a Teaching Assistant you will be supporting the class teacher and pupils on a daily basis. This will involve 1-1 support, group support and personal care duties. You will also assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons, ensuring all pupils have the correct resources to enable them to participate fully.

The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, work well under direction, and be a team player.  You will also be adaptable and enthusiastic with a positive attitude. 

In addition you will have:

  • NVQ level 2 qualification or equivalent
  • Previous experience of working with children in an educational setting and knowledge of child development including that of Early Years.
  • Knowledge of procedures of safeguarding children and equality of opportunity
  • A high standard of literacy and numeracy skills
  • A good level of competence and an up to date working knowledge of ICT
  • The ability to contribute to the maintenance of clear, accurate records relating to pupils
  • The ability to support the behaviour management of pupils, including assisting with the development and implementation of behaviour strategies
  • The ability to communicate clearly and in a variety of forms with a range of pupils and adults
  • The ability to work as a member of a team and foster positive relationships with a range of professionals
  • The ability to accept supervision and respond to instructions, guidance and feedback from others
  • Good organisational skills including the ability to prepare and manage educational resources
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality on all school matters
  • Commitment to high expectations for all pupils
  • Self-motivation and personal drive to complete tasks to the required timescales and quality standards
  • Willingness to participate in further training and developmental opportunities
  • The ability to manage sensitively the personal care of pupils and promote independence
