Curriculum Overview
Ignacio Estrada observed 'If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.' At Castle Wood we have taken this observation to heart and made it the mainstay of our pedagogy. We focus on what our pupils need to learn to navigate their next stages of education and ultimately life in a modern society.
Our curriculum strategy is complex but dynamic with the child at the centre. It is challenging to separate the individual components; they are so intertwined. The role of the adult is crucial in our curriculum model. We undertake observational assessment and from this, adults make judgements as to the appropriate next step. The child is always at the centre of our framework, but the journey of learning can be plotted in a myriad of ways.
Our curriculum strategy document explores in greater depth how the individual components come together to ensure each child has a curriculum offer for their need.
