Working with Professionals

At Castle Wood, we have links with external professionals from other schools and other agencies. 

We meet with professionals for other mainstream and special schools to collaborate on learning and assessment to ensure best practice for our pupils. 

 

NHS services are available to pupils who have been referred and meet the NHS criteria. 

 

We have NHS Speech and Language service working in our school weekly. The service works alongside pupils, provides blocks of work, complete assessments and supports our staff with delivering Speech and Language daily in the classroom. The service will feedback to parents and suggest ideas for therapy. Click on the link for more information about this service. 

 

NHS Occupational Therapy work in the school to support pupils with daily living skills, sensory assessments, seating, fine motor development and splinting. Occupational therapists work alongside parents, pupils and staff to complete assessments, deliver therapy plans and provide equipment in school and for the home. NHS Physiotherapy work alongside pupils, staff and parents to develop posture and functional movement skills. Physiotherapy model exercises and provide equipment for school and home. Click here for more information. 

 

Some of our pupils may be open to Wheelchair Services and Orthotics and parents and staff can liaise with these services for advice and follow ups. 

 

Specialist school nursing team support pupils with complex medical needs. They will work alongside families to ensure medical needs are met across the school day and can signpost families to other medical professionals for advice or support. For more information click here

 

Educational Psychology service support school with specialist assessment, observation and action planning for your child's education and learning. Staff, parents and Educational Psychology collaborate to plan next steps. For more information click here

 

The Neurodevelopmental team will carry out assessments for Neurodivergent pupils. The team work alongside families, staff and pupils and provide signposting to other services if needed. Further information here

 

Rise services support pupils for many reasons ranging from; mental health, sensory needs, communication, behaviour and supporting emotional wellbeing. Rise has a multi-disciplinary team lead by mental health specialists. For more information click here
