Together, children first...

The Castle Wood Recovery Rainbow

Many things have changed since March 2020 and current circumstances still demand a change in thinking to navigate the new world in which we now live.  Castle Wood has considered how we will work with communities, parents and carers to support our pupils in thriving in a post lockdown society.

To shape our thinking we have looked to work by Barry Carpenter.  Barry Carpenter has had a prestigious career in the area of Special Educational Needs, working with universities, charities and organisations to improve provision and practice for SEN.  Our Recovery Rainbow is based on 'Recovery Curriculum: Loss and Life for our children and schools post pandemic', research conducted by Barry Carpenter and the Evidence for Learning team.  We believe that the 5 levers identified work well with our pedagogy and are firmly rooted in an understanding of our children's needs.
