Our Class Learning
Our school day commences at 8.55am and ends at 3.10pm with a lunch break in the middle of the day.
Parents and carers are asked not to arrive earlier than 10 minutes before the start of the school day and 10 minutes before the end of the school day. However, you are more than welcome to sit in the reception foyer area until the doors open.
The school day reflect our belief in Early Years pedagogy and focuses relentlessly on developing children's communication, language and vocabulary, through the seven areas of learning in our curriculum - Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
Over the week children will engage in a balance of direct whole class, small group, collaborative and playful teaching which encourages children to be independent and autonomous in their learning and development. We are very clear about, and value the contributions to children's learning and development from each of these styles of learning.
Children engage in an individualised curriculum tailored to meet their needs. This may consist of swimming, soft play, physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language and personalised intervention activities.
All pupils are given opportunities to explore their local environment and engage with the community. We have a forest school on-site where children are able to learn about the ever-changing natural environment and raise their awareness of the world around them.
